Hydrated skin is key to a smooth, even and radiated tone. The constant running around, work and pollution take a toll on your skin. No matter the skin type, it’s important to keep it hydrated at all times.
People tend to confuse between dehydrated and dry skin. So, let’s clear out the difference between the two.
Dehydrated Skin vs Dry Skin
Dry Skin lacks the needed amount of sebum, which when in excess leads to an oily skin. Dehydrated skin simply means that your skin is lacking water which can make it itchy, dry and dull looking.
Here are five simple ways to keep your skin hydrated and fresh!
1. Drink lots of water
This is a no brainer really. You can keep yourself healthy simply by drinking adequate amounts of water every day. The recommended amount of water consumption is 8 glasses per day, which can go higher depending on your daily activities and weight.
Tip: Keep sipping water throughout your day so that your body can retain it. Because if you chug down a bottle of water in 10 minutes, it will simply pass through your body without being absorbed.
2. Avoid Hot and Long showers
We know that there is nothing quite as refreshing as soaking yourself in long and hot showers. However, it strips your skin of natural oils which is crucial in keeping your skin hydrated. Moreover, most people are unaware of the harmful chemicals present in their shower water. It would be beneficial if you used a showerhead filter to remove chlorine and other chemicals from your water.
3. Eat your water
Yes! Eating fruits and vegetables that are rich in water will greatly help in keeping your skin hydrated. A few examples of these would be watermelon, oranges, apples, tomato and cucumber. Not only do they hydrate your skin, they also provide you with several beneficial vitamin nutrients.
Tip: Eat them on an empty stomach or before meals for best absorption of nutrients and water.
4. Use a moisturizer
After a good cleansing session, your skin is robbed of essential oils – which is much needed for a good skin. Which is why it is necessary to use a moisturizer after a shower, as it helps lock hydration into your skin.
Tip: Use a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin. A dry skin will have more suitability towards a cream-based moisturizer, whereas an oily skin will prefer a light lotion-based moisturizer.

5. Make sure to Exfoliate regularly
A moisturizer isn’t always the answer to dehydrated skin. Sometimes it’s the dead skin cells that make up for a tarnished and dull look. Make sure you exfoliate every once in a while, to get the best results. After you exfoliate, apply a moisturizer for your new fresh skin cells!
